REFLECTION

Q: What is digital art?

A: My interpretation of digital art is any work that incorporates technology into another medium. Video games immediately come to mind when I think of virtual reality with art and design. A digital artist is one who makes use of digital technology to produce art/ their final work. Digital art is important because it opens up a whole new audience- which includes younger generations- and increases their interest in design alongside the technology they have available to them. I think digital art today is different than what has come before because it is more manipulative. The designer in today's world with the right technology has the ability to manipulate a piece however they want to. I think about this like special effects in movies like the Bond movies, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and so many others. I took this class because I wanted to learn how to produce new types of art, and get creative in how I look at an otherwise "normal" object. I want to learn how to dig deeper into a work and make viewers have to think about it's meaning without a clear story attached.
